Shingai Featured

Shingai is renowned for her prolific career as the lead singer and bassist of the critically acclaimed band the Noisettes. She has performed at all main festivals from Glastonbury to Reading, and has become a household name on national radio, TV, and major publications. Her debut solo single ‘Coming Home’ was heavily supported by the likes of Annie Mac (BBC Radio 1), Trevor Nelson (BBC Radio 2), and BBC World Services.

Shingai embarks on a new journey with the launch of the EP ‘Ancient Futures’. The lead single ‘Coming Home married Zimbabwe’s past with its future, and captures a moment of hope, strength, and celebration for its next generation. The solo project was also featured on BBC Two’s four-part TV series ‘Africa with Ade Adepitan’, Rolling Stone and NME.

Shingai defies convention and sets a new direction for Pop music in her evolution and authenticity, the key to all mainstream artists’ sustainability. Backed by compelling soundscapes, original synth takes on traditional instrumentation, and infectious hooks, her vocal prowess soars high above. Shingai takes Zimbabwean music into its next phase, inspired by her uncle Thomas Mapfumos’s classic Zimbabwe hit ‘Shumba’.

Shooting the music video on location amidst the mountains of Domboshava and the bustling capital Harare, Shingai showcases Zimbabwe’s next generation of creatives using local talent and local brands. The singer has been a regular voice on radio and TV with the Noisettes featuring on Later WIth Jools Holland three times, The Jonathan Ross ShowGraham Norton and interviewed across national and regional BBC Networks.

Distinguished for her dramatic performances and stylish looks, Shingai takes us on a musical and visual journey, complemented with an exclusive launch at The Jazz Café. Already a live act to be reckoned with, she is determined to break into the limelight all over again with her transition from the Noisettes to her powerful solo debut.
